On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. - John 7:37-39
As I read this passage I am reminded of the phrase “my cup runneth over” (Ps 23:5) and some inkling of a verse or passage that talks about our outward actions being a reflection of what’s in our heart (but I wasn’t able to find immediately). But as we read Jesus’ words, we aren’t told that the living water trickles out; it flows.
Our source of the living water is the Holy Spirit, but we are filled to overflowing to the benefit of those around us. God doesn’t give us a meager portion of the Spirit. Instead, we are given an abundance - enough to share - that multiplies and refills within us as we give it away. No, we are not the source. But out of our abundance we can give others a glimpse of what Jesus offers.
So from our own Epiphany invitation to come and see the Messiah, we extend the same to those around us. The world around us thirsts, but tries to quench it with things that do not satisfy, with meager portions that quick run out. May we share from our overabundance and guide them to our source of living water, that they may also learn what it means to overflow.

So much abundance! "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion...therefore I will hope in him." Lamentations 3:22-24. Love the goodness of God...he is our portion, we are satisfied in him!
